ANOTHER #1 FOR AISHLING AS NEW SINGLE SHOWS HER LOVE OF IRELAND
Hot on the heels of entertaining fans from the Main Stage at the National Ploughing Championships, and with her debut solo performance at the famed University Concert Hall, Limerick, just days away, young country music star AISHLING RAFFERTY is back with a brand new single to celebrate too! And, it’s just become her latest number-one as well.
THERE’S A MOON OVER IRELAND is the latest release from the Knockshegowna woman who – while mentored by Irish country legend Mike Denver – was crowned the 2022 winner of TG4’s long-running Glór Tíre series earlier this year.
Written by M.C. Grocott and W.J. Roberts, THERE’S A MOON OVER IRELAND is a song that most Irish country fans will probably already know from the recording by the king of Donegal himself, Daniel O’ Donnell. And for Tipperary’s Aishling, it’s another song that’s very special to her, and one she’s wanted to take into the studio herself from long before rise to country music stardom even began…“I’ve always loved good, up-tempo, fun songs that will get people out on the dancefloor and enjoying themselves. Because those kinds of songs are fun for me as a performer as well. So if the audience is having a great time, and I’m having a great time too, then you can’t ask for too much more from any show!”
“But for as long as I can remember”, reveals Aishling, “songs like THERE’S A MOON OVER IRELAND have really moved me, and I just love singing them. I’m a very proud Tipp woman, as anyone who knows me at all will know”, she laughs, “I never hide how much where I come from means to me! But I’m like that with Ireland as well. So I always tend to find songs about Ireland to be very emotional. And THERE’S A MOON OVER IRELAND is definitely an emotional song, and just a really beautiful one also.”
“I’m delighted that I’ve finally been able to record my own version of it, and it’s a song that I’m really looking forward to performing at my ‘live’ shows from now on as well.”
And one such ‘live’ show where THERE’S A MOON OVER IRELAND is bound to feature in Aishling’s set-list is her upcoming Acoustic Country concert at the University Concert Hall, Limerick on September 28th. Accompanied by well-known guitarist and producer Enda Dempsey – one of the most highly rated musicians in the country – Aishling will treat fans to intimate acoustic performances of some of her biggest hits so far, including Darling, Say You’ll Love Me When I’m Old; Mama He’s Crazy; Grandpa, Tell Me ‘Bout The Good Ol Days, and many more.
